Migration of SAP Solution Manager 7.2 ABAP Stack to HANA

Hello,

Is the scenario below possible using SUM DMO?

We are running SAP Solution Manager 7.2 ABAP Stack SPS 7 on Oracle.

Is SUM DMO usage possible and released for SP updates (target SPS 16) & DB migration to HANA ?

(Source: ABAP stack from SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS 7 on Oracle & Target: SAP Solution Manager 7.2 SPS 16 on SAP HANA).

For the Java stack of your SAP Solution Manager 7.2, there is no DMO procedure, so a heterogeneous system copy using Software Provisioning Manager seems to be the right approach.

I can' find a document/a guide describing the DMO procedure for ABAP stack.

Do we have also to run an heterogeneous system copy using Software Provisioning Manager for the ABAP Stack & then after the system copy, update to the SPS 16 using SUM?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

Zobair

Hello Zobair,

you can use DMO for migrating your recent rdbms system to hana system, check out link

https://support.sap.com/en/tools/software-logistics-tools/software-update-manager/database-migration...

you will have to use SUM for that approach. it is not restricted for c4 s4 or b4... only restriction is that your system needs to runs on HANA or ASE after DMO. But in the end you can also do a default heterogen syscopy using swpm, with export / import. the result will be the same.

also very nice adviceable blog

DMO is only available for conversions to S/4HANA, C/4HANA or B/4HANA.

There isn't any special SOLMAN version for HANA, so the path here is to execute a heterogeneous system copy with SWPM to export the data from ORACLE DB and import it on SAP HANA, and then SUM to upgrade.
