Issue #1
When editing any report, all text cells defined with Arial 10 font (not bold, not italic) appears not correctly on éditor display, as if all characters were compressed on the left (see print-screen Crystal_Issue1.jpg). Text can be edited normally and is readable in a PDF export, but always stays unreadable on editor display. It seems to concern only Arial 10 font, but it is the font we use in ALL our reports.
Issue #2
When exporting reports in PDF, ALL fonts appears bigger as they are defined, causing many layout problems in reports. We use Arial font, and this issue exists for all character's size, bold/not-bold, italic/not-italic.
Request clarification before answering.
For issue 1: Have you tried either changing the font or changing the size of the font and then changing it back to see whether that will resolve the issue?
For issue 2: That's interesting because usually the fonts appear smaller in PDF export. There are a couple of registry settings you can play with to see whether they will help. I am assuming that you're running these through the Crystal Reports application, Crystal Reports Server, or from the SAP BI Platform.
Start at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\ (on 64 bit OS)
-OR-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\ (on 32 bit OS)
Go to or create if it doesn't exist:
...\Crystal Reports\Export\PDF
Update or create if it doesn't exist:
ForceLargerFonts DWord: 0 or 1
UsePrecisePositioningFoText DWord: 0 or 1
TruncationAdjustment DWord: 1 to 10
If you have Crystal Reports Server or the SAP BI Platform, both of which mean you have a service contract and should have an "S-ID", you can find SAP Note 2165260, which the the master note with all of the possible registry settings that can be used for Crystal.
