Migrating SAP HANA Cloud Calc Views to SAP Data Sphere

We have a landscape like ECC > SLT > HANA Cloud (CALC View) > SAC.

We have numerous CALC Views which are designed in SAP BAS on HANA Cloud using ECC replicated tables through SLT. Now, we want to migrate all these HANA CALC views to SAP Data Sphere what is a best approach ?

Hi @ChintS,

It is my understanding that direct migration from HANA Cloud (CALC View) to Datasphere is not currently feasible. However, there are options available to address this need.

  • ECC > SLT > HANA Cloud (CALC View) > Datasphere > SAC
You may establish a connection to HANA Cloud to observe the appearance of CALC Views in Datasphere. If there is a feature that promises remote tables, it may be worth considering, especially if you are using HANA Cloud.
  • ECC > Datasphere > SAC
To streamline your landscape, consider simplifying it. You can connect directly to ECC from Datasphere and bring data into Datasphere. Then, you can rebuild HANA Cloud CALC Views as Datasphere views and analytics models. Datasphere and SAC will work together efficiently.
  • When are you planning to upgrade your ECC to S/4HANA? If you do, you can then use S/4HANA, which will offer additional advantages, such as the ability to use CDS Views with Datasphere.

The objective is to transfer data between these locations. To streamline this process, it would be advisable to eliminate SLT and HANA Cloud, a decision that will yield positive results in the long run.

I hope this contribution proves useful.

Thanks,

Thank you. Our plan is to eliminate HANA Cloud after activating Datasphere. We have hundreds of HANA Cloud Clac views, so redesigning is our last option. Also, does Datasphere support live connectivity with ECC?
