Merging Users in IAS

Are there any tips/techniques to merge users/security groups from 2 different source systems in IAS?

The Source Systems each contain specific information regarding access for the user.

When a sync is triggered, all of the existing security groups are cleared and only the security group for the current source system being synched are added back. Ideally, the sync will only clear/add security groups tied to the system being synched.

In general the recommendation is to avoid multiple systems of origin for one and the same user to prevent conflicts and overwriting of user data😕

Thank you! In our case, we may have the same user with access to SF and then add SPM product access. I saw the note about user attributes but does that include Group assignment?
