Hi,
I working on a webi-report containing a set of different BEx-Queries (BICS Connection) and a query based on an universe (Excel / ODBC-Connection).
While BEx-Query prompts merge easily - this doesn't apply to the universe parameters.
I do have 2 prompts - one for year and one for month, both, bex-query and universe-query parameters are named the same and are of equal type.
Any idea what to do? I don't want the user to ask 2 times for month and 2 times for year.
Thanks!
Christian

Hello Chistian,
you can not merge variables / prompts from the BICS connection with prompts from the Universe.

Hello Christian,
Please let me know if you have got a solution/work around for the prompt issue... I'm in a similar situation now - prompts appearing twice(from Bex and universe)..As far i know there is no way to merge them like the Bex prompts...
Thanks,

Hi Jothi,
Thanks for the response..
My report is a union of two different datasources..One source uses BICS connection to connect to the Bex Query and the second query is on universe connecting to SQL server database/ ODBC..
They both have common filters and i dont want the prompts to appear twice to the end user instead, i would like it to be merged into one and when the query is triggered it should pass the prompt value to the respective query/data federator and fetch back the desired results....
Just checking - how reliable is the option "Result of another query (ALL)" ...? I was thinking of passing the o/p of one query to the other it instead of prompting it twice to users...
Thanks,
Anil Zacharia Chacko.

Hi Arun,
I was able to merge or combine prompts from Universe created on Bex and Universe created on Excel where as was unable to combine with query created on Bex and query created on Excel Universe.
I think its something specific to BICS queries not being able to combine with other types if queries.
Please use the universe layer on top of BEx and try, it should work.
Thanks

Hi,
Check whether you have Merged Dimensions and the data type of the objects are same
