Merge dimension using left of string

HI,

Is it possible to merge dimensions using a substring of a dimension?

Ex. I have one query with order numbers and in the second query I have the same order number but followed by an underscore. How do I merge the data?

Query 1

[Order Number]

Query 2

[Order Number_Order Type]

You can merge variables with dimensions from BI4.2 SP3 onwards

[jemstar]

Create a variable to strip the underscore and following characters

Then merge your variable with the order dimension

Variables and/or objects must be of the same datatype in order to merge them. Are they?
