Hi All,
There are some authorizations provided for Class and Classification in standard role but the values are ignored by both MDG and standard transaction. The only control we are able to set is Class Type.
So my question is how the authorizations work for this instance and if someone has controlled the assignment of class/classification for material using roles.

My guess is that MDG is geared to a higher level of governance than individual characteristics.
You don't specify the authorization objects you refer too. I'm guessing the Organizational areas? These are used more for determining what characteristics can be used in certain classes and who can record against a value.
The using auth object C_TCLS_BER you can limit users as to which characteristics they are allowed to record values against, say for instance in MSC2 transaction.
MDG I believe is more for assigning the classes to objects. And this is done by class types. Org levels are used at a level below that which is really at a user transactional level. Not a master data level.
If you aren't talking about org areas, then please elaborate on your question and be more specific about what authorizations you are talking about.
Thanks!
Craig

Hi Craig,
Let me clarify the requirement. At Material Level, We are looking to control whether user can assign certain class or not based on authorization. So if i am not authorized for a particular class let's say 'BXXXX', then it should not be available for selection or if it is already assigned it should not be displayed to user or allowed to change any characteristics under that class.
I know it might not be the most clear requirement but even we are trying to explore what is possible as part of standard to understand how we can work around that.
