MDG Customer Classification with Hierarchy Structure

We have a unique requirement on MDG S4 HANA 1709 HUB implementation where Business wants to maintain a hierarchical classification for a customer . I understand MDG 9.1 does not support Customer Hierarchy as we for in ECC and we have Hierarchy for Business partner relationships in MDG .

The above requirement for customer classification as a hierarchy in 4 levels for a specific customer is needed in MDG and I believe we may need to solution this by extending the BP Data Model .

My interest here is to clarify if I can still use BP Hierarchy and store into KNVH in MDG system and replicate using KNA1 Idoc segment into downstream ERP system . Or is there a better way to approach this requirement .
