hi Gurus,

I have question related to mapping fields of a extract structure to infocube

Taking 2LIS_11_VAITM as an example. This DS will have many fields but what if the infocube relevant to this DS need only few fields out them???? do I have to map the fields in the transfer sturctue of insource manually according to the cube?????? In that case what if i wanna use the same Infosource to another infocube having different dimensions....I am confused GURUS help me out plzzzzz.

Hi,

You have an option to hide the field that you don't need in the data source itself. If you choose this option, data will not flow from the source system to info source.

If there is a need to update multiple data targets i.e. two cubes in your example, you can disable the update rules and set them to 'no update'. In this manner, you can update data directly from the info source.

Sometimes, certain fields are hidden by SAP in the data source. You can check and enable that by looking at table ROOSFIELD.

With regards,

hi,

thanks for your response but i have something else to ask you.

where do we map fields in the Update rules...!!!

I have been thinking that Transfer structure is the place to map the fields...

and what do we mean by data cleansing????

Mapping of the fields in update rules is similar to that in transfer rules.

Rignt click on the Infoprovider and select "create Updata rules".

Then select the infosource and in the next screen map the fields and activate the update rules.

Data cleansing is when we select only the fields that we need in the updata/transfer rules.

Hope this helps.

Hi

See the previous post....

In the update rules we can map the fields similar to transfer rules. Press the keyfigure mapping icon. You will get a new screen where you can map the charecteristics

In the betwenn two keyfigures....say sales revenue left side and sales revenue right side....in between one icon is there. Press it....in the new screen you can map the fields

Data cleansing will enable to you to segregate the data which is inaccurate and not wanted of

Hi

That is why we put the data into the ODS with same DS and use update rules to put the data into different infocubes depending on cube requirement

You may heard about data cleansing.

In the update rules we can map charecteristics and keyfigures as per our requirement in the cube
