Mapping 0LOC_CURRCY to 0ORDER_CURR

Hi,

I'm a bit confused here.

In the update rules 2LIS_02_ITM on e.g. 0BBP_INV I see a mapping:

0ORDER_CURR <- 0LOC_CURRCY

While the extractor provides both WAERS (order currcy) and HWAERS (Local currcy).

Isn't there a conflict?

Or is there a currency translation behid it somewhere?

Regards,

Eric

Eric,

There's no conflict. If you check the Extraction structure in R/3 some fields make reference to WAERS and some others to HWAERS. That's why you have both.

The same in BW, some of your Purchasing Key Figures, in their definition, will be based on 0CURRENCY, some others in 0LOC_CURRCY and so on...

It all depends on the data type and reference of the fields you're extracting from R/3 and the Infoobjects mapped in BW.

Hope it helps.

Luis,

thanks for your input. I must admit I have never been confronted with currency translation until now. What I don't understand is that the "local currency" field that is extracted is being mapped to the "order currency" while that is also being extracted. So I was afraid that e.g. a Swiss vendor that sold us a product would give problems. We use EUR while the vendor uses CHF. I thought the local currency CHF would be mapped to EUR being the order currency and that hence the amounts would be wrong. Unless that behind the mapping there is a conversion of the amounts...

No doubt it is my lack of understanding in currency translation mechanism.

Any good explanations available on this topic?

Eric,

The mapping in the Transfer Rules is just that, a mapping. No transformation occurs unless you do it explicitly via a logic or user exit of some kind or the InfoObject contains a transformation on its definition, which I don't think is the case.

So, considering this, the mapping from local currency to order currency is valid. And again, it's up to you to make the conversion to EUR from CHF.

It would be good to ask your business users how those currencies should be considered and give them this example.

I don't have documentation about currency conversion, just the experience of using it in some projects. If I find some, I'll let you know, for sure.

Regards,

Luis
