Can I consider the characteristics that I add to a cube as a representation of the unique key value? Thanks
Hi:
<i>
Lets say I add the following characteristics to my cube:
Storage Location
Plant
Material
Sold To
For each record that is represented in the Fact table is the key here the four characteristics or does it vary on how I store them at the dimension level i.e.
If I have four dimensions representing each characteristic than 4 key combination, whereas a 3 dimension say Location (which contains Storage Location, Plant) and Material, Sold To is this a different key value?</i>
Hi, in this case, Dimension has nothing to do with Unique Records, its based on individual characteristics.
Example:
IF you have two (2) records coming into Cube from Source.
Storage Location; Plant; Material; Sold To; kf
TX; PLT1; MAT001; ABC; $1000
TX; PLT1; MAT001; CDF; $3000
Here, these are seperate records in CUBE no matter which Dimensions the CHaracteristics fall in.
