In Signavio Process Manager,When will directory-link removal at a collective level be available?

Hi SAP Signavio Process Modeling and Value Accelerator Teams.

I have some questions related to the leveraging of the Value Accelerator "Process Landscape and EA Design" to speed up the Process Modelling and also to remain as aligned as possible to the Process Decomposition and Naming convention in the E2E Value Chains, Business Value Flow Diagrams and Solution Value Flow Diagrams.

I present my analysis first and the questions come at the end.

Example E2E Process: Source to Pay

Example Modelling Scenario:

It has been decided that for Source to Pay E2E processes, it is very important to stay as close as possible to SAP landscape, in accordance to Clean Core, thus benchmarking all levels of decomposition in Source to Pay, its level 2s, Level 3s and L4s(Business Activity Sequences) should be leveraged.

Action:

To create copies of the VAL Diagrams in order to re-use the elements as much as possible.

The below screenshot displays that the Source to Pay Diagram from  VAL was used as benchmark and a New VC Diagram was created. The Elements were selected from the VAL Source to Pay file, copied and pasted into the new VC Diagram.

(Note: creating a copy (save copy) of the original VAL diagram creates the same condition as Copying and Pasting Elements.

As shown above, each of the Level 2s, Modular Processes in the VC Diagram keep the Directory links and the attributes filled in, in accordance to the VAL taxonmy.

Although the elements decomposition, and Process Elememnt naming convention will be re-used, an organizaiton might necesseraly want to use the exact Directory Entry and attribute naming convention as the VAL.

Thus it is decide to use the standard naming attributes, the organizations naming for dictionary entries and perhaps only re use some attributes from the VAL.

Thus, a Process Developer can remove the links from elements, see screen below:

Screenshot 2024-08-16 235115.png

as seen above, each individual element ( in this case Collapsed Process) needs to be selected so the Directory icon is visible.

In a case like this, where many elements across the L2, L3 and L4 decompositio will be benchmarked, but not the VAL attributes, a modeller would be able to speed up the creating of the Diagrams and clean up of the new Directory by removing links faster.

Currently, selecting multiple elements does not allow for collective removal. see screen shot below.

Questions:

1 -Is there a work-around to accomplish the above?

2 -Would collective removal of dictionary links be availble when copying VAL diagrams? Via a tool bar operator?

3 - Would there be a possibility in the future to keep certain VAL directory links and attributes, that is a selective removal?

For example, a few VAL attributes were considered relevant to re-use? ( Note: Currently removing the Directory Link, takes away all attributes, thus the modeller would have to reselect them again for those that considered could remain )

In the screen below I present an example, of what attributes could be considered benefical to keep using exactly as the VAL attribue:

  • isElementOfRBABPMBusinessProcessType
  • hasComponentRBABPMbusinessprocesssequence
  • identifier

Thanks in advance for your feedback. please feel free to get back to me if you need more information.

Cheers!

Hi there,

Thank you for your feedback regarding the usage and consumption of value chains in our Value Accelerators.

Unfortunately, SAP Signavio Process Manager currently does not have the ability to collectively remove dictionary links or selectively choose which to import.

I have provided this feedback to our Product and Engineering team as a suggestion in the product roadmap.

Once again, thank you for the valuable feedback to improve our product!

Hi there!

Thanks for getting back to me and also for passing this on to the Product Team, as I believe this can be a relevant feature in order to better leverage the VAL diagrams.

Kind Regards.
