I have a clean installation of BI 4.2 SP3 on a new server. Can I import a .lcmbiar file created in BI 4.1 SP3 directly into BI4.2 SP3 using promotion management? If not what is the best way to get my BI 4.1 content into a BI 4.2 instance?
Best way is, Login to BI4.2 environment , use the promotion management, login to source system which is 4.1 environment from promotion management in the promotion job, create a biar file, or you can do live to live from 4.2 environment.
No, it is not a recommended way. You should always create the promotion job in the higher version which in your case is BI 4.2. Define the source as the BO 4.1 environment and then do the migration.
