I can't run workbook in BI launch pad using a Training User

Hi all,

I can't run workbook in BO launch pad using a Training User. The Workbook was created by Developer User.

But I can run workbook created by other Training Users (as copy of the previous one).

Below the error message raised while I click on the workbook:

HTTP Status 500 – Internal Server Error

Type Status Report

Message java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method java.util.List.iterator() of a null object loaded from local variable 'dataConnections'

Description The server encountered an unexpected condition that prevented it from fulfilling the request.

Apache Tomcat/8.5.32

Do you have any idea about why I can't run those Workbook?

Based on error it seems to be the issue with the tomcat, but it could be the corruption of the user also. Try to add the user in Administrator group and check if the issue occurs. If not then it is rights issue try giving proper rights (grant Full Control explicitly) and check the behavior.

Make sure to grant the full control on the Connection, Folder, Subfolder and the dashboard itself explicitly.

It depends upon the activities you want the user to perform. As the user did not have access to connection it was not able to access it and hence the report failed.

If the user is able to view reports by granting the View rights on Connection and Folder, that is enough.

Granting user rights totally depends upon what activities you want the user to perform.

Hi Omkar,

as you suggested. I added Training User as Admin. So it can run all workbooks successfully.

after that I removed Trainig User from Admin group, and I setted View grant for Folder and View grant for Connection: it works successfully. (no Full Control).

Can you suggest me any other settings to give to the users?
