Hello,
i am working on a story with dimension filter and i want to sort it . My dimension holds the numeric values 1,2,3,... 12 for 12 months) , when i use this dimension in table or chart , custom sort is possible. however when same dimension i use as filter the values are not sorted. if you have faced similar issue or know how to handle this issue ,please advice. Thank you in advance!

Dear Anita,
they are sorted but as a text, i.e. all elements with a leading 1 come first.
You might change your model and use real time dimensions (date dimension YYYYMM while importing/wrangling) in the model to realize your time-filter.
Kind regards,
Roland

Dear Anita,
If you really care about the month sorting, you have to set dim2 as generic dimension includes quarter, for example: set Month ID as Q1_01, Q1_02, Q1_03..Q4_12, and description as Jan, Feb... Dec, I made a simple example with a single axis, refer to themonth-model.pngstory.png picture. And you could follow the rule to build X-Y axis chart, thanks.
Best Regards
Stephen.

The date dimension as shown in the attached screenshot works fine but , then its year dependent and not just period ( jan, feb, mar... dec) independent of year. In my story i want to have a dimension dim1 with values ( jan, feb, mar, apr... dec) and use it as filter. if I use this generic dimension as filter in story, the sort is not working. So i created a dimension dim2 as date but that doesnt solve my problem , as dim2 is always with year and i want to plot a graph with x axis - months( independent of year) and y axis the keyfigure. Year is another dimension in the story also used as filter to show the graph for different year.
is there any other way i can stil have the dim1 ( jan, feb... dec) sorted in the story filter?
Thank you in advance for your support!
