How to Migrate MSSQL 2016 DB to SAP HANA. We tried deploying SAP Advanced Migration tool but its not getting installed in Windows Server 2016. While Installing Cygwin Utility getting error.

"[5676:1122/155459.666:ERROR:gpu_init.cc(481)] Passthrough is not supported, GL is disabled, ANGLE is"

If any better way to migrate then please suggest.

In Perl, you have to install some libraries which is mentioned in SAP Advanced SQL Migration Guide.

Hi Sandeep,

I think you have added the tag as "user tag", there is an SAP Managed tag called "SAP Advanced SQL Migration", can you use that one instead ?, sorry for that but it is important to classify questions properly and allow others find them well.

Regarding your question, SAP Advanced SQL Migration tool aims to convert the data model (tables, views, indexes, sequences ...etc) and SQL objects like stored procedures and functions from non-SAP dbs to SAP databases for custom applications (SAP solutions based on Netwaeaver are out of the scope of this tool, may be used to convert extensions only). It seems you want to convert a SQLServer data model to SAP Hana so this tool is the one you should use and we don't have any other doing exactly the same. For data model and objects like tables we have others like SAP Power Designer, but it doesn't convert procs and functions.

Would like to know SAP Advanced migration tool is only best way to migrate MS SQL DB or do we have some other free tools available through SAP.

Do we have tools available which can help to covert MSSQL Scripts into SAP HANA Data explorer executable scripts.

Regarding your question, I have never seen that error when installing this migration tool, after a quick search in google it seems more related to an OS issue and not to a migration tool problem itself. SAP Advanced SQL Migration tool run on top of Cygwin so it is totally required, Windows 2016 Server is not officially supported but I tested it some time ago and it was working for me. Can you please do some search for that generic error and try different possibilities to fix it and then try again ?.

Another suggestion I can give you in case you are not able to fix the issue on your Windows 2016 Server or you are not allowed to make modifications on it, this migration tool doesn't need to run on the same host where the MSSQL Server is located, you can install it in a separate client host.

If the error persists I would try to find a Widows Server 2016 and install on my side.
