How to migrate Cyrstal Reports 2011 ( 14.0.4.738 ) from Windows server 2012r2 to windows server 2022

What are my options to migrate? Do I have to first upgrade the software and then migrate? or can I directly migrate? Is there a procedure or guide I can follow for the migration? Does migration also carries over the reports data?

Hi @JWiseman, The blog speaks in a very high level way. I am not a Crystal Report expert, would there be any detailed documentation or a step by step procedure for the migration? or is there a way to create a support ticket to receive some help with migration?

As you're using a very old and unsupported version, the odds are that there won't be any kind of documentation on migrating to a newer operating system or any ability to put in a support ticket. There is also no full downloads for unsupported versions of Crystal Reports (2013 and below according to kbase) so you'll probably need your original install media.

I am assuming you're using a server environment such as CR Server or BOBJ as you used the term migration. If you're using just Crystal Reports designer (crw) then that is sometimes just a new installation on another machine and establishing database connectivity...as mentioned though this is a very old version going to a new operating system so there can always be unforeseen issues. Note that you're also dealing with expired support for data connectors.

Either way you might want to first consider upgrading to something that is actually supported on Win Server 2022. You can also download trial versions of the designer and server versions to test them out. https://www.sap.com/products/technology-platform/crystal-reports.html

Hi Khan3, Windows Server 2022 wouldn't be a supported OS for CR 2011 as per the support documents available here.

Thank you for your response.

The second link doesn't work. It gives me "HTTP request failed". 

Since our current version of Crystal Reports 2011 is not supported on Windows server 2022, what would be the right approach for migration?

-- Should I do a fresh install of latest version of Crystal reports on Windows 2022 and then migrate over the data? or

-- Upgrade first on existing server and migrate the data?

In either of the cases, do we have any supporting procedure for migration?
