How to get Manager hierarchy in API pull

Hi, I am pulling data into a data lake through the API and am wondering if anyone knows how to get Person's manager, Manager +1, Manager +2, Manager +3, etc. in the same api pull? 

Could i do the lookup manager's manager etc all the way 10 levels away, yes. BUT I fear when I'm trying to see the hierarchy as of the employees term date it wont give me 100% correct results. Right? A manager could be in Sales and had 10 terms mid month and then by month end they moved to Finance and if we apply the month end hierarchy those 10 terms will show up in finance if we use the hierarchy when they should show up in sales. Right?

Anyways.... making the API work for me instead of a million calculations in the lake. 

I want to have the bottom option where i can see Manager +1, +2, etc. to make a hierarchy where the CEO will be level 1, level 2 will be his direct reports. etc. 

Obviously story reports are different but this is how I was able to get it to work in story reports
