As in all projects, what is consuming and which is most often botched by consultants is the documentation.
And for good reason, happy to do development, we are often less happy in the newsroom.
The search for an automatic solution is often a hope rarely encountered
It is with this in mind that I share with you the premises of my documentation solution for SAP Datasphere Based on a model created in SAP Datasphere and a story in SAC, here is the result obtained in real time
Of course, there are many possibilities to extend the model to answer any question.
Features:
- Information about artifacts, whether it's a model, a view, a table
- Full lineage from an analytical model
- List of fields
- List of source tables on which the analytical model depends
Overview of the current model:
Based on the technical tables of the DB HANA, you can find an overview of the analytical model used to generate the documentation
Still to do:
- find the formulas,
- the information in the Business Purpose fields and other labels
Request clarification before answering.
There is no need to code, just a few formulas in the views in SAP Datasphere.
The model thus created allows you to directly do the documentation in realtime as in the example.
The objective of the post is to show through the lineage the sources that allow you to do what is necessary.
My current problem is to find the metadata data such as the Business Purpose, the AM formulas as well as the labels because only the technical names are available
