How to Enable OAuth for OData APIs in SAP S/4HANA 2023 Trial Appliance?

Hello SAP Community,

I'm currently evaluating SAP S/4HANA 2023 FPS01 using the Fully-Activated Trial Appliance (deployed via SAP CAL). The appliance stack includes:

  • SAP S/4HANA 2023 FPS01

  • SAP HANA DB 2.0

  • Accessed via Windows Remote Desktop

  • SAP GUI version: SAP Logon 64-bit

As part of this evaluation, I want to explore securing OData APIs using OAuth 2.0. My goal is to understand how to enable and test OAuth-protected access to standard OData APIs such as API_BUSINESS_PARTNER.

What I’ve Done So Far:

  • Logged into the system using BPINST, client 100 via SAP GUI.

  • Attempted to access the transaction /IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE to activate or check services.

  • However, executing /IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE does not open anything, and I suspect this could be due to missing authorizations or incorrect user context.

  • I am also unsure which user or role is required to configure OAuth client setup (e.g., via /n/IWFND/OAUTH2_CLIENT_* transactions).

Request:

  • What is the correct user or role to use for configuring OAuth 2.0 for OData APIs in this trial setup?

  • How can I access the SAP Gateway Service Maintenance (/IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE) screen if it doesn't open via BPINST?

  • Are there any additional steps or prerequisites required in the trial appliance to enable OAuth functionality for OData APIs?

Any guidance, especially specific to this trial environment, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
