Since you don't specify how your existing certificate was created it is hard to say for sure. Also depending on your network configuration that may also impact your certificates and where they are installed.
If you are just using the default one and directly connecting to the SMP server one option may be to reinstall the SMP server to a new directory which should generate a new certificate. Then you could move that cert over to your existing server. I have not tested this to confirm the dates on the new certificate but it might be the easiest option.
