Hi

I would like to create an IM PI document in MI01 transaction but the SLOC is total empty right now and I cannot create a blank document becasue of error: Document does not contain any items. And if I enter the material then another error: Item 001: No batches that can be included in phys. inv. exist for xxxx .

My user case is, we found physically a new material in a Storage location which material does not existed before on that SLOC and the SLOC is full empty now (no any other material exist on SLOC) so we want to increase the stock of the found material but system does not allow to add just 1 new material to an empty SLOC. How can we do the inventory?

Thanks,
Istvan

Create a Physical Inventory Count:
Go to MI09 (Create Inventory Count without Reference).
Enter the Plant and Storage Location (SLOC).
Add the material number and batch (if applicable).
Enter the count date and count class as needed.
Perform the Inventory Count:
Record the actual stock count in the system.
Post the Inventory Difference:
Use MI10 to post the inventory differences. This will update the stock levels accordingly.

To create a physical inventory count for an empty SLOC, use MI09 (Create Inventory Count without Reference). Ensure the new material and batch exist in the SLOC. Enter the plant, SLOC, material, batch, count date, and count class. Perform the count and post differences using MI10.
This method avoids dummy materials and simplifies the process.

To create an IM PI document for an empty SLOC in MI01, follow these steps:
1. Create a dummy material (if allowed) or use a temporary material for the inventory document.
2. Enter the SLOC and the dummy material in MI01, then save the document.
3. Post the physical inventory count (you can adjust later).
4. After posting, remove the dummy item and add the actual material stock via a goods receipt (MB1C or MIGO).
Alternatively, consider posting a physical inventory document with a zero balance and then adding the new material stock through a separate transaction.

Hello, Thanks for the input. In the mean time I figured out that I can start a count without a PI document reference in MI09 and there I can enter any new material. Pre-requesite is that the material and batch has to exist on that given SLOC. Thanks again!
