ABAP 4.6C is really old. You mean, how to convert xstring to string via iXML. iXML is meant to read or write XML, not to decode bytes into text. 1) If you want STRING via IXML, use CREATE_OSTREAM_CSTRING. 2) If you want to convert XSTRING to STRING, use CL_ABAP_CONV_IN_CE (you have to know in which code page you have your text in XSTRING, or just try your chance).
