How to connect to BEX query with a Hierarchical data in WEBI 4.0

Hi All,

Can anyone suggest me how to connect to BEX query with a hierarchical data in webi 4.0

My environment is

ECC-BW-BEX Query-WEBI/Crystal/Dashboard

For Heirarchial report, doees the heirarchi data come from ECC or we need to built it in BEX query at the time of designing query or we need to do it in Report level ? which is the correct way ?

Hi,

Basically, hierarchy data comes from source, In BW, we just map the hierarchy data and build the BEX queries. In report, we cant define the hierarchy but can able to drill down the levels if the source has hierarchy data.

Hi Anupama,

The data flow to maintain hierarchies goes as follows :

Let us take an example of hierarchy on Organizational Unit (Orgunit)

In ECC at the time configuration of application, functional consultants configure the hierarchy on Orgunit and in BW at time of modelling of the info object ( Characterestic), BW consultants would enable hierachical type of Master Data for the characteristic and load data to it ..

In the BEX query we need to place that corresponding object (i.e 0ORGUNIT characteristic) while designing a BEX query using BEX query designer and have to enable the hierarchy....

Then in BO we could make use of the Hierarchy in reports ....

We need to build the hierarchy in Bex query and it can be consumed in Webi report.
