In sap.me portal the system is shown with System Role "Test". We would like to use this system as "Development" System Role. Are there any changes/restrictions after the System role change to us?

Can the System Type be changed for existing systems?

Please follow the Best Practices articles when editing existing systems:
KBA 2531837 – Best practices of editing SAP Business Suite systems and license keys - SAP for Me

What types of changes should not (or cannot) be made to an existing systems or license keys?
If you need to change any of the following, you must create a new system with new license keys in the License Keys application. So in cases where you have a new deployment of the software, you should create a new system instead of editing an existing system. Please do not edit an existing system or license key for the following types of changes:

  • Product Name and/or Version changed
  • Operating System changed
  • System Type or Development Phase changed (e.g. License Type changes from Test, Development, Production)
  • Database changed - Note: As mentioned above, only change the database for an existing system if all license keys under that system are to be changed to the new database. If you plan to use the old database for some systems and new data for others, you should create separate systems for each database.
  • 3-character System ID cannot be changed (a new system needs to be created)

  • System type (production, development, test) can be changed but changing the system type by editing an existing system, could have the unintended consequences of overdrawing your license entitlement. This is why we recommend creating a new system when the system type changes.
