How to add a Excel-File to an existing Dataset (UNION)

Dear all,

I have an existing dataset (Excel file) in SAP Analytics Cloud, and I would like to add another Excel file to it. Both files have the same column structure, and my goal is to combine them vertically — in other words, perform a UNION operation (as known from SQL), not a JOIN.

However, I’m struggling to find the right option to achieve this in SAC. I've gone through the menus, but there doesn’t seem to be a clear way to append the second file’s rows to the existing dataset.

Any guidance or step-by-step help would be greatly appreciated.

I exported a table from SAP ERP containing warehouse data for April 2025. Using this data, I created a dataset and built a story to visualize it. Within the story, I also defined several calculated key figures that I would like to keep. Now, I would like to add the data for May 2025 to the existing dataset so that the story reflects a broader time range. One option would be to export a new table containing both April and May 2025 data. However, this would require me to create a new dataset and rebuild the entire story from scratch, including all calculated measures, which I’d prefer to avoid. Using an import connection is not an option in my case, so I’m looking for a way to extend the current dataset with the new data while preserving the existing story and its calculations.

In this case, you can just load the new file with May 2025 data only into the same model by using the replace query option from data management, you can also reuse the data wrangling and mapping if the file has indentical structure.

In my GUI there is no Edit Option in the Data-Management. The 3 points are missing. What am I doing wrong? I have the system-owner rights. Am I using a wrong version?

I guess you still using the classic account model where replace data source is not supported. I would suggest you to convert your model to new model type is possible.
