Request clarification before answering.
XS Classic is already removed from HANA As A Service and HANA Cloud. However it is still part of HANA on premise installation in the 2.0 release but has been announced as deprecated. Therefore it remains supported through the lifetime of HANA 2.0 on premise shipment. Hi Anton,
Latest information on the topic states support until June 30, 2025.
As documented (e.g. SAP HANA Security Guide for SAP HANA Platform but also in other guides for the platform edition):
SAP HANA XS, classic and the SAP HANA repository are deprecated as of SAP HANA 2.0 SPS 02. For more information, see SAP Note 2465027.
Note 2465027 states
This affects the following components which will continue to be supported with SAP HANA 1.0 SPS 12 and SAP HANA 2.0 and will be removed from later versions of SAP HANA. (...)
SAP plans to remove SAP HANA extended application services, classic model and the corresponding SAP HANA Repository with the next major product version of SAP HANA.
There is no specific reference to a version.
SAP HANA Cloud (version = 4.0) does not support XS classic model.

Thanks for your answers, Thomas and Denys. I accepted Thomas's reply simply because it came first, but I appreciate the pedantic precision of your answer, too. Starting a new project with Hana XS Classic seems a bad idea.
I meant pedantic in the positive sense, demonstrated by your answer, which shows you truly care about the reader's convenience. Futhermore, a healthy measure of pedantism helps to keep things in order, use correct terminology, &c. It is not always bad, as M.-W. seems to imply. For example, I always compile my C programs with the -pedantic option.
Nothing wrong with a little pedantry. 😉
Is somebody HANA-ed out?
