How is the Portal Theme applied to a BSP?

Hi,

I have several BSP's that are displayed within the Portal (EP6 SP9).

Within the BSP's the datepicker does not work, if yo click on it nothing happens. If the BSP is executed outside the portal as a standalone app the datepicker does work. Therefore I assume that the error is related to the portal theme.

I have tried regenerating the ITS Theme (using sap_preview and sap_generate) but nothing seems to happen.

Should re-generating ITS Themes effect the display of a BSP within the Portal?

Is this issue likely to be with the ITS theme, with the Portal theme or something else entirely?

Many thanks,

Paul

1. did you set the flag supports portal integration in the BSP application properties?

2. ITS theme dosent affect the BSP look and feel.

3. check out OSS note no. 616900 which is a master for all BSP related issues.

also the following , taken from BSP FAQ may be of interest to you.

Currently we are seeing a problem with web applications, with different types of not explainable JavaScript errors (usually the error states that specific JavaScript functions are not available). Looking at traces, we can see that the correct *.js files are requested from the browser, and correctly send. However, the *.js files are zipped (content-encoding = gzip). This causes the problem at the browser.

One technique to test for this problem is to change the browser to use only HTTP/1.0 (menu Tools->Options->Advanced->HTTP/1.1). With this, effectively gzip compression is disabled. Then flush both browser and server cache (for Web AS transaction SMICM, menu Goto->Cache->Invalidate).

This is an error which we have until now only found a very few systems in-house (where no browser security patches have been applied), and at some customers. However, we have no way to uniquely identify which browsers are involved. From the Microsoft website we can only determine that it is an IE6 problem. We do know that this problem is fixed with the accumulative patch Q813489. (To see if this patch is installed, start IE, and in the menu Help-->About.)

In all cases of "strange" JavaScript errors, we would recommend to immediately check and patch IE.

Raja,

I had not set the supports portal integration flag 😮 (schoolboy error I know, but my excuse is a lack of familiarity with BSP's).

Thanks also for the other info, it's cleared up my understanding on a few other issues.

Cheers,

Paul
