How can I use the new conditional formatting on number chart?

Hey Guys,

I had tried several times to use conditional formatting on chart under KPI > Numeric Point but with no success. Any ideas how we can make that happen?

I'd like to the change the background color, or the text color, according to the conditional formatting rule. Here is a video that claims SAP Cloud for Analytics already has this capability of last year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG9XcZg31zU.

Here is an example:

Hi Mohammad,

I'm not sure about the background of the KPI number chart types, but please take a look at the following video here. It explains the way to use predefined thresholds in charts.

Worked for me for KPI number chart types like this see attachment.

Best Regards,

Mark,

It is impressive that you managed to pull this off!

But how?!

The "color" field is not even present. Can you show me a screenshot of your builder screen?

(FYI, the bar chart conditional formatting was successful, but not the KPI number chart)

Hi Mohammad,

Thanks for your feedback.

Just checked it in a previous version and observed, that this workflow is not feasible for KPI numbers in that release.

Assigning colors is also not working there....

  • What is the version you are using?

Hi Mark,

From my experience, the new features do not take effect in a short period of time. Right now my BO Cloud is:

Version                        1.0.49

Commit                       9922eed58db14a966e1d6122b1de72e15f1dcba0

Build Date                   Tue May 17 2016 00:18:17+0200

EPM library version      1.00.048.00.1461914380

Hi Mohammad,

Well in case of BO Cloud new features are coming in every two weeks.

Please take a look at the following release note:

2319756 - SAP BusinessObjects Cloud 2016.10 release information

As you can see there are many improvements in 1.0.50 and onwards regarding coloring features.

Your tenant will be updated accordingly to the newest version shortly.

(FYI, my first test was done in version 1.0.54)

Thanks,

Mark

pls note that the conditional formatting is now a sub-menu on the designer panel:

Viktor,

Yes of course. That's understood.

Once you select Conditional formatting you go to "Model or Entire Story" > Measure > Colors and then you select colors.

But then nothing happens until you specify the chart that you want this conditional formatting to affect. With a bar chart, easy. But I just need an explanation on how it's done on a numeric KPI.

Also, follow up question: How did you add the items under assigned colors?

Thank you,

Mohammad

Hi Mohammad,

First create a threshold in your story or model:

Then assign that Threshold (called Gross Profit) in the Color section of your Numeric chart:
