How can I safely delete part of the data from the DSO?

I have several DSOs from which I need to delete all data from the beginning up to and including 2017. I also have several cubes that are loaded with data from these DSOs. How can I safely delete the data from these DSOs using SAP BW tools without affecting the cubes, and so that it does not affect future loadings into these DSOs?
