How can I extract the reference number from the <Ustrd> tag in an EBS file?

Dear SAP Community,

I have a question regarding the <Ustrd> tag. When reading an EBS file, the reference number is typically found within this tag. However, there is also additional text next to the reference number that is not needed for my use case. How can I extract only the reference number from this tag?

Is there a method to parse the content of the <Ustrd> tag and retrieve just the reference number, excluding the other text? Any advice on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

what you try to do is currently not possible. But we work on something which might help in the future. So stay tuned and read the What's News.

Now for your case, usually you would simply map the data which the bank sends to these fields 1:1. Then you execute some of the interpretation algorithms, which would extract the reference number from the Note to Payee field.

Hi @Edrilan_Berisha ,

Thank you for the clarification!

Could you please let me know which interpretation algorithm would be responsible for extracting the reference number from the Note to Payee field? Also, how can I check this in SAP to verify the setup and its behavior?

Looking forward to your guidance!

Best regards, Nejla

Hi nejla, you're welcome.

So my proposal would be to try the 021 algorithm or the 421 (which is even a bit more resilient). But there could be also a bit more "false positives" with 421. So it really depends on how well aligned you run your business with your clients. Do they follow your "rules" and they simply add the reference document number without any special characters etc.
