Hi,
in classic modelling approach in SAC which will be phased out sooner or later and there we wont use it anymore - you could glue your tables together using some dimensions (join, link, combine - call it what you want). I don't see a similar option in the "new data model" approach, if it's about 2 tables containing "facts", not talking about master data (aka dimension tables approach).
Can pls someone help me? I come from QlikSense, where life is easy but not low-code/no-code. I'd like to give the low level SAC approach to a broad audience in our company, so that we get rid of now-excel processes.
Second Question: If i create a dimension table based on an XLS file on a file server, how can i update that dimension table?
Thanks
Request clarification before answering.
Hi Qliksense_Ultra,
Combine data during import for new model type is planned for future, please check this roadmap item.
If your dimension is a public dimension, you can also schedule an import on the excel file from a file server.
Best regards, William

Hi William, thanks for your answer. In the mean time i found the option to schedule refresh on public dimension tables. Yet i find it difficult to handle these as public but for the time being... The other topic, data modelling on new model, is very disappointing, as this is currently unscheduled and only a product "vision" - it's something that is common in most (all?) competing BI's, which produces IMHO a huge gap. As a consequence it slows down our innovation and transformation speed, as SAC was planned as a core component. So any indication would be nice. I can only encourage SAP to have a look at the capabilities of the competitors and massively invest innovation power here.
BTW, just pointing out that "classic modelling" as well as "classic story 'experience'" are in the mean time marked as to be deprecated; meaning it puts pressure on the developers. As a matter of fact, there is not only a huge functionality gap from SAC to competitors but also within the product (vision?) itself - some features remain unsupported... I can only urge SAP to be way more faster and more contributing here - we're losing it.
