Hello experts,

we are doing a homogeneous system copy using the oracle DB/ restore method.

source and target oracle version is 12.2.0.1

but SAP bundle patch is different

in the source,SBP 12.2.0.1.200414 202005 .

in the target no SBP is applied and this SBP 12.2.0.1.200414 202005 is not available to download from software download center

should i apply the latest in the target? but the target will be SBP higher than the source.

NOTE: we don't want to touch the source sight now .

Please advise

In this case, please patch both source and target to the latest SBP, this is because:

1. latest SBP is always recommended for any task
2. in the past, we see database dictionary corruption or error for backup&restore between different SBP

Thanks, James, for your reply.

the issue we do not want to touch the production (source) system right now.

can we have a higher SBP in the target? is the Oracle DB backup restore method system copy will work if we have SBP higher in target than in the source.

Welcome~

backup & restore technically works cross SBPs, but in the past there is bug, so it is suggested to stay with same SBP.

For your case, you can reach SAP support asks old SBP as the same with your source, and state your reason,
sap can give you old SBP if the reason is reasonable.
