Has anyone extended CALM?

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, there isn't much information about extensions in CALM online. I have a few questions because a customer wants extensions.

1. How can custom logic be integrated into CALM?

2. How can custom apps be integrated into CALM?

3. Can CALM be integrated into Workzone?

4. Is it possible to access Hana behind CALM? I know that there are many APIs.

5. Can standard apps from CALM be extended?

6. Is there a way to display logs from CALM in the Cloud Logging Service? In particular, SLG1 from SAP.

It would be great if anyone has experience with this and could share it or point me in the direction of the relevant resources.

SAP Cloud ALM extension strategy is only based on APIs.

Could you please give me more details on what you would like to achieve?

2. How can custom apps be integrated into CALM?

SAP Cloud ALM provides public API for integration with custom apps or 3rd party tools.

I'm not a Workzone expert but you can create tiles in Workzone and link them to SAP Cloud ALM applications.

4. Is it possible to access Hana behind CALM? I know that there are many APIs.

No. SAP Cloud ALM APIs are available to push or pull data.

5. Can standard apps from CALM be extended?

Yes, using APIs.

6. Is there a way to display logs from CALM in the Cloud Logging Service? In particular, SLG1 from SAP.

Thank you for your reply. Let me address your points.

1. For example, the customer does not want to receive a notification for every error, but only after the third error. Currently, CALM can only generate a notification for the first error or for every error. I could take this further with my own logic, e.g. that the notifications must follow a certain pattern. All the data is available in CALM, I just need to integrate it. I have read that CALM was built on the basis of CAP. CAP projects can be individually extended. Does CALM offer this option?

2. By apps, I meant adding your own apps to the CALM Launchpad. Creating your own tile that points to your own development. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything on this. For example, an extension is being developed in the BTP for monitoring, and this should be easily accessible in CALM for the basis.

3. Is there a type of content federation like in s4? Roles, apps, etc.

4. Is it possible to access the data via a Hana Cloud instance? Remote source or replication?

5. Which APIs are you referring to? I'm talking about adding buttons to standard apps, for example, essentially an adaptation project. Ideally, the underlying service can also be extended.

6. Are there any further details available? Including the available features?

Hi Andre,

1/ You can get the data using the APIs and use them with your logic in a custom app or 3rd party tool.

2/ Today, this is not possible. A workaround is to created a new launchpad in Workzone with custom apps and SAP Cloud ALM apps.

5/ All SAP Cloud ALM  APIs are documented on the SAP Business Accelerator Hub: https://api.sap.com/package/SAPCloudALM/overview

It is not possible to modify SAP Cloud ALM app. It is a cloud system not an on premise system.

1. I would prefer not to write an application that has the same functionalities as the standard application, with a few enhancements. Integration would be nice; specifically, I am referring to https://cap.cloud.sap/docs/guides/extensibility/ . This was also demonstrated at Teched: https://github.com/SAP-samples/teched2025-DT265 

Does such a thing exist or is it planned?

6. Where can I find more information about integrating CALM data into a Cloud Logging instance? Unfortunately, the source you linked to is not very informative. The logs from S4 are relevant to us.
