Dear,
The creation of a test case and link to a test plan and execute is clear, only to have in really practice is different, hopefully you will able to give us more clearity as we are going to use SAP Cloud ALM for each project. We are going to start with the test execution and have created multiple test cases, we have now questions regrading test execution and test plans. Any suggestion are welcome:
Thank you in advance and kind regards
Request clarification before answering.
Manual Test Cases are not designed to have a sequence of execution between each other. There is no enforced execution sequence dependency. Manual Test Cases can be executed in any order.
If you need to enforce a sequence dependency, then you can write the first step of a Test Case so that it outlines that another Test Case must first be completed as a prerequisite. Again, SAP Cloud ALM Test Execution cannot enforce this, your users will need to abide by the steps.
The display order/sequence of the manual Test Cases is only visual in the Test Preparation and Test Execution apps. It is not intended as an order of execution. The display order can be changed by clicking the "Sort" icon in the result table (two vertical arrows, one pointing down, the other pointing up). Multiple field values are available as sort options.
Test Cases aren't assigned to individual users, Test Plans are. In Test Planning, the "responsible" person is the tester. The search field "Tester" in the Test Execution app will be the same value as the assigned "responsible" person for the Test Plan. It is not currently possible to assign multiple users as being responsible for a Test Plan, only a single user can be assigned. If you need to change the tester for a Test Plan (and all its Test Cases), you must change the "responsible" person for the Test Plan.
KBA 3390449 outlines the SAP Cloud ALM for Implementation use cases that support notifications (including e-mails). Currently Test Management functionality is not included in this list.
If you wish to influence the future development of SAP Cloud ALM and provide direction to our Developers in relation to any of these topics, please log a request in the SAP Cloud ALM for Implementation Customer Influence campaign.
