From where env variables need to set

Hi All I have been trying to set env variables in solaris system of SAP NW 7.4 running oracle on Source system. My target is Linux,Oracle from Solaris, Oracle. Tried in .dbenv.sh, .dbenv.sh to add new and making changes to existing variables, but not reflecting when I do env. Mine is ksh. Appreciate your answer. VaraPrasad
