Hi,

I am trying to use S4HANA 1909 for my practice purpose. I watched free trial video on Utube and tried to activate the free trial.

First I created account on GCP and then followed the steps to configure an account.

After fully configuring the account on GCP, I downloaded JSON file.

After that I went to CAL.SAP.COM and created appliance for 1909.

I configured the account there also and got the error.

For that error, I contacted GCP and after getting solution, I tried to activate the appliance again. But the error still remain same even though I contacted GCP again for the same.

I am looking for help, if someone can help me and guide me the steps.

Dear Customer,

You would need to increase your 'N2_CPUS' Quota to 36 and your 'SSD_TOTAL_GB' Quota to 722 in order to be able to create an appliance out of the chosen appliance template successfully. The Quota adjustment should be in europe-west1-b region. In case that it was done in the right region, our recommendation is to terminate both your appliances and then to create a new one.

Please note that the used by you Quota has been calculated as an sum off all used resources (i.e. CPUs) of your SAP Cloud Appliance Library appliances and also of these, started directly via the Cloud provider Console.

Best regards,

Tsvetinka

Dear Customer,

In order to be able to terminate successfully your appliance, the account used for creation of this particular appliance should be in status Active. What is the status of your account in SAP Cloud appliance Library, used for appliance creation? May be Inactive?

In case that you have more than one cloud provider accounts, used for account creation in SAP Cloud Appliance Library the quota adjustment should be made in the appropriate account (where your appliance in SAP Cloud appliance Library will be created).

my account with cal.sap.com is active, but the service account I created in GCP for the first instance is deleted. After that I created new service account in GCP and then created new instance in cal.sap.com.

In cal.sap.com, there is only one account showing because I also deleted the old account used for first instance.

Further, Quota for N2 CPU and SSD are reflecting as 36 and 772 for the new account and new instance as I checked in quota section.

I am not able to figure out where is the fault.

There are attached file for instance and the error that I get when try to activate it.instance-page.png error-page-1.png

Dear Customer,

The first attachment, named by you instance-page, relates to the appliance template used you. In order to be able successfully to create an appliance (instance), from this template, you should terminate the appliance, named by you SAP S4HANA 1909 and then to use the same account in SAP Cloud Appliance Library in order to create a fresh appliance form our SAP S/4HANA 1909 FPS02, FAA appliance template. You should make sure that quota adjustment is in the GCP account, used for creation of your currently active SAP Cloud Appliance Library account.

Best regards,

Hi,

As per your instructions, I terminated the appliance and under the same account in Cal.sap.com created fresh appliance. After doing all the steps I am still getting the same error for the new appliance. I am really frustrated now.

Now I am thinking to give it a last try and will delete the account on cal.sap.com and terminate all instance on this account.

After that I will try again and with new JSON file, I will try new account and new appliance.

If you can provide the step by step process to do the same, I would be thankfull.

Thanks

Dear Customer,

Please note that the used by you Quota has been calculated as an sum off all used resources (i.e. CPUs) of your SAP Cloud Appliance Library appliances related and also of these, started directly via the Cloud provider Console.

You could refer to https://caldocs.hana.ondemand.com/caldocs/help/GCP_FAQs.pdf for additional information.

Please also note that some times it is time consuming to be released the used by you resources. We noticed there was a short time frame between terminating the old appliances and creating the new one. This probably caused the same error. In such situations we recommend you to wait before starting a new appliance.

Best regards,

Tsvetinka

This is indeed a quota issue in GCP, some thoughts:

Right region used for enhancing quota ? Did you terminate your initial failed instance (otherwise you will need the double quota) ? Check in your GCP console if there's anything visible to analyse ?

I deleted previous instance on cal.sap.com, and the system showed message that "it will be deleted on 07/06/2023. After deletion I created new instance, and previous instance is still in sap account. Also, already raised the quota requests, for the europe.west1 zone B region, and GCP console already showing the quotas as 36 and 772. But when I try to activate the instance, getting the same error.

Is this error is due to different regions?

My GCP account has India as region.

Hello Fahad,

can you please share the exact error messages / screenshots ?

Also the GCP-specific FAQ on "https://cal.sap.com/catalog#/support > Cloud Provider Questions" might help.

And lastly, since the 1909 appliance is relatively old (the newest release is 2022 FPS01) might be an option to use a newer appliance template (unless you are bound to 1909 in your project).

Best, Joerg

Also, the error message is :

Failed Operation Start On Step Check Quotas Cloud ProviderGoogle Cloud PlatformMessage Usage limits reached: Regional: - Quota 'N2_CPUS' exceeded. Available: 8, Requested: 36 - Quota 'SSD_TOTAL_GB' exceeded. Available: 500, Requested: 722 To solve this problem you have to request additional quota from the Quotas page in the GCP console.
I have contacted GCP support, and they increased the quota for N2 CPU and SSD as well but still I am getting the same error.
