Flexible Workflow Purchase Requisition - Step Rejection and the email communications

Hi Experts - Here is the scenario; We are using flexible workflow with Overall Release of Purchase Requisition approval. And the workflow contains multiple steps.

In the middle of the step, if the approver wants to rejects the work item, and request the PR requisitioner to fix few things before approval (example requesting additional attachment, correcting the short text, etc.,).

In this case, the complete workflow need not be cancelled, and start from the beginning. Looking for a mechanism where communication to the requisitioner (email communication), and after the requisitioner fix the PR, the communication back to the approver.

The question is: How to achieve this?

Additional information:

If I set the step "Exception Handling" - Purchase Requisition Rejected->Action Result->Repeat step, no email is not triggered to requisitioner. However, if I set the step "Exception Handling" - Purchase Requisition Rejected->Action Result->Cancel, we are getting an email for overall rejection.

Also, as the result of repeat step, the approver still see the workflow in the Inbox. How to make this only after PR is saved with the corrections?

Any thoughts / suggestions are appriciated.

Thanks,

Prakash

Hi Prakash,

which release are you working on currently?

In the new cloud release, there will be an additional option in Exception Handling called "rework required", which seems to fit perfectly to your needs:

Until then, I do not think, that there is a possibility to do this within the SAP Standard.

Best regards

Hello Leopold,

Thanks a lot for the information. It is really helpful, and highly appreciate your input.

Glad to know that SAP already developed solution for this scenario. We are currently at 2020 SP01.

Thanks,

Prakash
