Hi,
is there a way to extract data from PostgreSQL (postgres) into BW 7.50 powered by HANA?
We also need real-time data. UD Connect should be possible with Java Stack. SDI is an alternative but there are licence costs.
Thanks,
Andreas

Hello as_76,
Unfortunately UD connect/ DB/ Data Services/ 3rd party ETL (Informetica...)/ SAP Data Intelligence, all will have lag as they are all ETL setups.
As you are on BW on HANA the best and only possible way for virtual (real time) setup would be via SDI. As you mentioned license cost would be overhead. Though the setup of SDI is relatively easy.
Thanks,
Vijayeta

Hello as_76,
Unfortunately, your options are limited to fullfil both your requirements - Live data and No additional license cost.
Not sure if your project can sacrifice live connection and accept ETL setup instead. If so, then you have multiple options.
Set of DS under SDA are limited and PostgreSQL is not yet supported (as you may have guessed already).

Hi Vijayeta
thanks again.
We need SDI for live data in BW for the Postgres DB. We can use UD Connect for ETL. This is possible.
SDA is working, but unfortunately not supported from SAP, see
"2892211 - Hana SDA connection to Postgresql: SDA connection from SAP hana system to a postgresql database is not supported by SAP"
So do you think in this case there are no additional license costs for SDI?
Best regards,
Andreas
Hello as_76,
HANA enterprise license some time includes SDA and SDI as well. Check with your SAP Account Executive for details. If your contract do not include SDA and SDI then I am afraid it will be a net new purchase. If it is already included then you are in luck.
Hope this answers your question. If you find informaiton helpful, feel free to accept and up-vote.
Thanks,
Vijayeta
You can use SAP Data Services for this.
