Hi All,
I'm facing some problem while connecting to the HANA System. It's a stand alone HANA DB.
Machine A: HANA DB (Suse Linux)
Machine B: HANA Studio (Windows Server 2008)
I have done the following trying to resolve this but no luck
1. Put an entry in host files in both the machines
2. HANA Server is up and running
3. Tried to restart and start the services, still not able to resolve
Given below the screenshot of the error message
Any idea what could be the issue here?
Regards,
Skugan V
Hi All,
Thanks for your help and suggestion.
Got this resolved.
There was some problem in starting the HANA Database. Though the Syntax said "Started OK"., the HANA did not start. rectified this and now I'm able to connect to the system

From HANA Studio file menu
windows->preferences->Genearal->Network connections->drop down Active provider and choose Direct ->ok
Add again and Check if it helps.
P.S:Check if you are able to ping your Host from command prompt to verify your HANA server is up and running ,

Hello Skugan,
Additionally, please verify the ports 5xx13 and 3xx15 are open on firewall.

The error message is very generic and we can get the error for any of the following scenarios:
when HANA instance is stopped
when the a wrong SYSTEM password is used
when the host name and instance id's are not correct
As you already confirmed the HANA instance is up and running
Can you please check and make sure you are using the right HOST NAME and INSTANCE NUMBER along with the right PASSWORD for SYSTEM

hi Skugan,
Are you able to ping from Windows box to HANA server .
If not able to ping , need to check network access between two server.
