Enable Google Worksheets in S/4 Hana Public Cloud

Hi Everyone,

We are implementing S/4 Hana Public Cloud for a client, who is not ready to use the MS products (Teams, Mail, Excel, Word, etc.,).

For any data migrations or transactional data updates using the Excel sheets in SAP S/4 wanted to be replaced with the Google Sheets.

Also, when the client wants to extract/download some master data or transaction data from the system by default it does not give an option to download it to Google worksheets.

So we need a way to enable this feature in the SAP S/4 Hana Public Cloud for the Google space/Google worksheets enabled.

When I searched for this, I saw some external integrations needed with SAP Document Managed Services.

We also have the BTP and IS service in BTP used for this client. We can leverage these if required for the Google worksheets enablement in the client system SAP S/4 Hana Public Cloud.

Any directions to do this are much appreciated.

Thank you,

Hanu

Hello @Hanumath

In continuation of Irene’s comment and your question?

SAP does recommend Microsoft Excel for filling migration templates.  SAP Help Portal-Data Migration

The Migrate Your Data application enables users to download templates in XML or CSV formats and upload corresponding files.SAP Learning-Migrating Data to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition with Local Templates

You can also populate staging tables using your preferred tools (ETL/SQL) via the staging-table approach. SAP Help Portal-Data Migration-Migrate Data Using Staging Tables

Key Information and Important Considerations

Google Sheets doesn't support direct upload. If you're using Sheets, export your file as CSV or generate the SAP XML beforehand upload. SAP Learning-Migrating Data to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition with Local Templates

There is a file size limit (usually 100 MB per file/zip). Large sheets often need to be exported to CSV and zipped. SAP Learning-Migrating Data to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition with Local Templates

If you want to avoid files altogether, use “Migrate Data Using Staging Tables” and load data directly into the staging schema with your tooling.

Google Workspace Client Recommendation

For file-based loads: Keep your data in Google Sheets, then go to File → Download → CSV and upload it to Migrate Your Data. Check required columns, codes, and dates before exporting. SAP Learning-Migrating Data to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition with Local Templates

For higher-volume or automated loads: utilise the staging-table approach by pushing data from your pipeline (Apps Script/ETL) into the migration staging tables, then proceed with mapping, simulation, and migration within the app. SAP Help Portal-Migrate Data Using Staging Tables

Hi @Hanumath

I searched in our help portal for data migration, it mentions that "Using Microsoft Excel is a stable option for entering and editing values manually." > Downloading Template Files

While we also have a way to Transferring Data to Staging Tables Using Your Preferred Tools.

Could you please heve a look at this and test if this can be used in your scenario?

Download option in Migrate Your Data app, only supports for downloading with XML or CSV file format.

Best regards,

Irene

Hi Irene

The client is reluctant in this as they don't want to use anything else besides Google. Client also got a reference from the SAP team mentioning this is possible in S/4 Public cloud.

While I was searching the internet for this option of enabling the Google Worksheets or Google option in S4 Hana Public Cloud, I found this.

From the SAP Help portal, I found the below one too and I am not sure if this is the apt one but trying to see if this is anywhere relevant to our current need to enable the google option in the S4.

Thank you,
