DVM strategy

Dear SAP,

We have an urgent requirement to setup Data volume management and we want to know the proper strategy of SAP in that area.

Now we want to go productive with DVM but i have several questions regarding SAP strategy. Before that let me also give you some information regarding our landscape

We used Solution Manager 7.2 to connect all systems and run operations like technical monitoring, custom code management,etc but the last 5 years we moved to Focused Run therefore all connections,KPIs etc are maintained in FRUN.

So my question is the following. What strategy do we need to follow bearing in mind that me.sap is NOT supporting all DVM products for example BW is not support but BW4HANA is. Obviously we cannot fully rely on me.sap.com to setup the DVM functionalities.

Going back to Solution Manager is a drawback for us, Firstly we have to configure again the managed systems with agents,etc and this is no acceptable not only for security perspective and heavy workload but also due to end of lifetime of Solution Manager

In focus Run we do not know if there is any possibility to use DVM . If we can use this feature then would be great news of course.

Could you please share with us the vision of DVM and your roadmap to help us to setup not only the latest releases like S/4 but also the older version like BW, CRM and Gateway in a consistent way.

It is possible to use DVM in Focused Run Landscape (i.e., does not have a Solution Manager), please check KBA 2036442.

##2036442 - EarlyWatch Alert (EWA) - Data Volume Management (DVM)

For those on Focused Run Landscape (i.e., does not have a Solution Manager):

The following notes have to be implemented in the respective managed systems;

1. 3170549 - Support for starting EarlyWatch Alert analysis from Managed System (ST-PI).

2. 3170725 - Support for starting DVM EWA Analysis directly from Managed System (ST-A/PI).

Post implementation, the report RAGS_DVM_START_EWA_ANALYSIS should be run manually for DVM Chapter to be included in EWA Report. The frequency of running this report should be the same as frequency of EWA Report Generation. For eg: if you receive EWA Report weekly, then this report also should be executed once every week.

For systems: SAP S/4 HANA , SAP Business Suite on HANA ( only EHP7+ for SAP ERP 6.0 for the moment ), SAP BW/4 HANA
