Does SAP Enterprise Search support ABAP CDS View containing a UNION?

I have developed an Enterprise Search-enabled ABAP CDS view that references another ABAP CDS view containing a UNION which combines the results from two tables.

From Eclipse ADT the Enterprise Search CDS View activates successfully. However, when I activate the view using program ESH_CDSABAP_ACTIVATION the following error is displayed:

E  [ESH_SQL_SEARCH004]       SAPABAP1/ZVIEW:  "ZVIEW": origin of anchor key column "PROJ_DEF" not determinable

The system is S/4 HANA 1610 Basis 7.51 SP04.
