Display of custom error page in portal when backend is down

Hi,

In portal, we have created a new role by "Role from backend" (backend is BW system).
When the backend system BW is down, we see the message "Java iView runtime" on portal when click on the BW links.
So now we need to replace with our custom .html page from KM folder when the backend server is down.
https://.../irj/go/km/docs/documents/ErrorPage.html

Please advise how to achieve this.

In addition, you can consider to code one custom Web Dynpro Java application/WD iView to embed the BW report within it, so that you can easily defined the error code for the WD iVIEW :

1. Before creating the custom page, portal UME pointed to either SAP BW backend or separate ABAP stack of portal? if it is in the SAP BW then how users are able to get the portal page?

2. I am not sure your portal version, just refer the blog which can be helpful to create the custom page
