Can someone pls help me with the analyzation of this.

Database and Applicationserver are on the same host. OS is SUSE Linux.

I added the files dev_disp and dev_w0 to this post. My Server worked last week without any issues.

The HANA DB isn't licensed and refuses connecting. The message is on the "dev_w0.txt" file:

C database user=SAPHANADB
C connection id=302615
C  *** ERROR =>   execute(), rc=1, rcSQL=437
 [dbsdbsql.cpp 850]
C SQLCODE : 437
C SQLERRTEXT : only commands for license handling are allowed in current state

You need to go to SAP PORTAL and register the HANA system in order to obtain the license.

Hello @mamartins,

thank you for your answer.

What exactly do I have to license, I have already licensed my SAP S/4 HANA 2023 system. The key is also valid until 04.02.2025.
Do I also have to license the HANA DB? If so, how exactly do I do that?
I cannot find a suitable description for an S/4 HANA DB in the SAP Portal under request license key.
The system is on-premise.

The HANA DB also needs a license like the Application Server. You have to register the system on your account portal, please look into this document: https://me.sap.com/notes/1644792

Hello again @mamartins,

I have already looked at the SAP-Note you linked. I have the following issue. I already generate a license key for my S/4 HANA DB. Just like in the note I added the database as a new system. But the problem I have now is, I somehow do not have any fitting license types

yanikuwe_lauer_0-1738076256991.png

My database has the

  • Product Version: SAP S/4HANA 2023
  • System Type: Testsystem

Could there be a problem with my product installation? My HANA system is within a SAP NETWEAVER licensed.

So far, thank you very much for your help. I appreciate it!

When you added the new system (HANADB SID) you should choose "SAP HANA, platform edition" as the product name, otherwise you won't see the proper license option.

Also, you need to have purchased the license to use SAP HANA DB,  and that license is properly assigned to the contract were you are registering the system.

Hello @mamartins ,

thank you very much. With your help I was able to fix my problem.

If someone encounters the same problem. Just follow as he says:

  • Go to your licenses https://me.sap.com/licensekey
  • Add your HANA DB as a new system within any installation (the installation doesnt matter)
  • IMPORTANT: Select "SAP HANA, platform edition" I took ... 2.0
  • Then as a license type I used SAP in memory application platform
  • As quantity I entered the maximum, since the SAP Note https://me.sap.com/notes/2957288 says "Alternatively, you could simply set it to a ridiculously high number"
  • after that I generated the key and downloaded it.
  • With this key I just followed the steps in SAP Note https://me.sap.com/notes/0002690863
  • And after that my SAP HANA System started again.
