Dismantling of custom entities

Dear MDG community,

In our MDG system we have two custom entities for business partners. They will not be needed in the future, so we want to remove the custom entities from the MDG customer workflow and from our data model. Is this request feasible and if so, are there any instructions?

Best regards

Hi Isabelle,

Understood, in that case you can migrate your data from custom entities to the standard fields, and then phase out the entities.

If you feel your question is answered, please close the thread, or if you have further clarifications you can post them here 🙂

Thanks

Hi Anirban, thanks for your answer. Do you know if SAP has a step for step guide for this? I only found a guide to implement custom entities? If there is nothing, I can will close the thread. Regards Isabelle

Hi Isabelle,

Could you please share some insights on what will happen to the data which are part of these entities?

You can remove the entities from the UI for processing your change request, and governance scope and adjust the mappings accordingly.

The entities can be deleted from a technical perspective, however, proper testing should be performed to ensure the data integrity is maintained and the receiving systems are also able to consume the data sent from MDG.

Hi Anirban,

the tables for our custom entities are no more needed when the legacy systems have been replaced. In the best case, these can be archived or deleted. The data that is still required is stored in standard SAP fields.

Best regards
