Hi Friends,
I have configured ESS/MSS setup in our Portal;
Step 1)
a) We downloaded ESS/MSS business packages from SAP Market place
b) Deployed into our Portal.
c) I have checked in Portal Content Administration; ESS/MSS PCD objects i.e. Roles,Worksets,Pages and iViews were created inside the SAP Standard folder.
Step 2) As per my client recommendations –
a) We don’t want to use PCD objects directly from SAP Standard folder and we will keep those PCD objects as backup. So,
b) We created Client folder ex: xxABC inside Portal Content.
c) I copied ESS/MSS PCD folder from SAP Standard Folder and Pasted inside folder xxABC; and then we customized Roles and worksets based on our requirements.
Step 3) Role assignment to Users
When I search for ESS/MSS roles like “Employee Self-Service” and “Manage Self-Service” I am able to see each role twice €“ one is from SAP Standard folder and another from client folder which I was copied.
So,
1) I don’t want to display ESS/MSS role which is inside of SAP Standard folder in UME(role search).
2) I don’t want to delete the role from this folder.
I got an Idea that is – disable/hide Portal PCD roles which we don’t want to display in UME while role search.
Please advise me, Is there any feature to disable/hide PCD roles in SAP Portal?
Thanks,
Nagaraju
Hi Nagaraju,
I second sandeep's statement, as long as it exists in PCD it will visible in UME search.
but if you change property 'Entry point" to NO to standard roles, these roles are not visible even these roles are assigned to a user. (Note: properties of standard objects will be reset to default when we apply patches.)

No, i think. In standard UME search it will show all the roles exist in PCD. Customization to standard UME search for a single requirement is not advisable and whats wrong In displaying he standard objects?
you can have a naming convention for custom Role names and ID is based on the path, it is very easy to differentiate the Roles from standard ones.

How are you accessing the roles, Via PCD Folder or UME
If via PCD Folder, then use Folder ACL Permission concept to hide roles for different users.
If UME used, then use "Role_Assigner" permission on each role to restrict the access to different User Admins.
let me know how it goes.
Thanks
Sandip

Nagaraju,
I guess as long as it exists in the PCD, it will be visible while assigning the role in User Administration.
You anyways have a different path for the roles that should ensure that the you are assigning specific roles. Lets wait and see if some one suggests an alternative.
Cheers!
