Hello everyone,
I have a BEx query which populates 5 dimension filter components.
In these components, only one dimension is sorted correctly, the others are just in random order.
Is this normal behaviour?
We are on Design Studio 1.6 SP04
I am working in the SAPUI5m mode.
I have sorted the dimension in the BEx query (for each dimension)
Request clarification before answering.
Hi Dwain,
As far as I know, sorting dimensions in the BEx Query only influences the sort order of the data source result set, so for example you should see the sort order respected in a Crosstab. However, a dimension filter is sorted according to master data order in the backend independently of the BEx Query setting. Please refer to the two responses from Karol Kalisz in the following discussion:

Hi Mustafa,
This is the query in Analysis, the dimension is sorted correct (alpahbetically).

but when I use this query in DS1.6 in a dimension filter I get the following order

This is very confusing and not user friendly..
The only place I can sort the dimension is in the edit initial view.. but still not working..
Hi Dwain,
Since Analysis is a separate tool, the result won't necessarily be the same as in Design Studio. Sorting the dimension in the initial view also only impacts the result set sort order and not the dimension member sort order which is based on the master data.
Your concern that the sort order is not intuitive is a valid one. It would make more sense to allow dimension member sorting either by key or text value rather than random master data order.
You could try raising an SAP Support Ticket to verify if the current behaviour is considered a bug or by design.
Regards,
Mustafa.
Hi Tammy,
will try to get the organisation to intall the newer version.
Thanks,
Dwain

Dwain - that is strange
There is a note/KBA on Dimension Filter fix for PL2 SP4 - https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2469269/E but it doesn't cover sorting
Is there a chance you could download SP5 (released July 9) and see if the problem persists?
