Hello,
I'm not an expert in Build process automation, but I worked on a project a year ago where I had to open an Excel file at the beginning to extract data. Everything worked correctly with just the Open Excel Instance -> Open Workbook steps, and I was able to proceed with my activities on the data.
However, I’m now working on a new project, and after the Open Workbook step, I receive the error: "Please define an active worksheet before using this activity." Even when I define a worksheet, I get another message: "No active workbook."
Additionally, when I try to use the Activate Workbook activity, I can't seem to configure it properly. The activity only asks for the workbook name, and when I provide it, it’s not recognized.
Has anyone encountered this issue or know a solution?

The same approach should follow:
Open Excel Instance -> Open Workbook (not Open Workbook from file) (indicate the filepath) -> "do your processing" Activate Worksheet -> Copy Cells etc tec - > Close Workbook (with save) - > Close Excel Instance
The problem you have is that, you are extracting the data without activating the Worksheet where the data is coming from.
