Hello SAP Community,
I want to know the differences between Datasphere Private Marketplace and the Catalog regarding the sharing functionalities. I find them very similar when it comes to sharing.
I specifically have this doubt: Can the private marketplace substitute the use of the Catalog or vice versa?
In my company we are not interested in selling or buying data from the Marketplace, but I have read about the Private Marketplace, where the sharing is done privately, so I was thinking selling at zero cost my products among my peers in a Private Marketplace as a mean for sharing and "publishing" them.
That mainly because you need a role to be able to use the Catalog and there are not roles required to use the Marketplace other than the DW Modeler I believe.
So, do you find accurate to use the Private Marketplace as a tool for sharing and publishing artifacts just like the Catalog is?
Thanks in advance for the answer

Hi,
My understanding is that the Catalog is a central place where you can search all objects in one SIGNAL Datasphere tenant, and you need to use the built-in sharing function to share the objects with other Spaces in the same tenant. The marketplace can provide cross-tenant sharing and has multiple ways to share the data to different destinations.
Regards,
Simon

A Datasphere tenant is an instance with its own standalone environment, resources, and configuration; it can run independently.

Hi, thank you Simon!
One last question please, in the previous answer, did you meant "SINGLE" tenant instead of "SIGNAL" tenant? If not, what would "SIGNAL" mean?
